Does Ceylon Tea Expire?

Technically speaking, tea, including Ceylon tea, does not expire like other food does. However tea’s flavor and quality can deteriorate over time. It might not taste as flavorful or fresh as it did when it was first made. Tea’s shelf life is influenced by a number of elements, including how it is stored and the particular variety of tea. Although manufacturer’s mark a specific date as the expiry date, normally if stored in ideal conditions, a tea could be used for a longer time than the mentioned expiry date.

Due to the oxidation process Ceylon Black tea goes through during production, typically it has a longer shelf life than Ceylon Green tea. if kept in proper storage, a high-quality Ceylon tea can last for years . Ceylon tea should be kept in a dry location with room temperature away from direct sun light and avoid moisture to increase its shelf life. If the tea gets exposed to moisture, it may get expired.

To help preserve its flavor, it is also a good idea to store it in an airtight container. If your Ceylon tea has been stored for a long time and does not taste as fresh or flavorful as it once did or if smells much different from earlier, it may be time to replace it.
