To brew Cup of Ceylon tea using Loose tea leaves, you will need the following items:

  • Loose tea leaves
  • Filtered water
  • Tea kettle or saucepan for boiling water
  • Teapot or Tea Cup with a strainer
  • Optional: sweetener of your choice (such as sugar, honey ..etc) And milk or cream (as you prefer)

Simple method for brewing a Cup of Ceylon tea:

  1. Bring the water to near boiling temperature (190°F/90C) to steep Black Teas and White teas. Green tea should be brewed with water that is not too hot, as it can cause the tea to become bitter. So water temperature should be kept lower than near boiling temperature (180°F/80C).
  2. Place the tea leaves in the teapot or teacup with a strainer.
  3. Pour the hot water over the tea leaves, making sure to fully saturate them.
  4. Allow the tea to steep, 3 to 5 minutes for Black teas and White teas. And 2 to 3 minutes for Green teas, or longer if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  5. Remove the strainer with the tea leaves and discard. (Some grades of Tea leaves could be used more than once)
  6. Add sweetener and milk or cream to taste, if desired.
  7. Serve the tea hot and enjoy!

Note: The amount of tea leaves and steeping time can be adjusted to your preference. A general rule of thumb is to use 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for every 8 ounces of water and to steep for 3-5 minutes. Experiment to find the perfect ratio and steeping time for your taste buds.
